Urban Garden

“The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good.”  – Genesis 1:12

We believe that we are called to be caretakers of God’s creation – a belief that helped launch Operation Healthy Blessing, the urban garden initiative we started in 2014. Under the guidance and green thumb of congregation member Mr. Jackson and Pastor Jonathan Friesen, our garden has grown to bring beauty to our building and our community.

Operation Healthy Blessing not only revitalized our outdoor space and personal corner of Hyde Park, it also serves as a daily reminder of the principles of creation care and healthy living. The garden is filled with flowers and organic produce that is offered to parishioners every Sunday during the season. The garden is homellis outsidee to rain collection barrels and a compost station, as well as garden beds built from scrap material collected from the Church basement. We are proud of how this garden models the transformative power of hard work, helping hands, and healthy living!

Our garden has been highlighted in the news! You can discover more about our work with Operation Healthy Blessing in the Hyde Park Herald and at Faith and Place.
